Designing a clear and intuitive workforce management experience for employees and managers in a complex healthcare environment.

Designing clarity into a complex operational system

Herzliya Medical Center needed an internal platform for managing employee attendance, working hours, leave, sick days and overtime across different teams and departments.

The challenge was to turn dense operational data and complex workforce rules into an experience that feels simple, fast and easy to scan.

One system, multiple perspectives

The product serves employees, department managers and HR teams, each with different goals and levels of information.

I focused on creating a clear hierarchy that allows employees to understand their personal status quickly, while giving managers visibility into exceptions, workload and attendance patterns.

Designing Around Real Tasks

Rather than organizing the experience around system data, I structured it around the questions users need answered during their day.

Employees need to know whether their hours are up to date, how much leave they have available and whether anything requires attention.

Managers need to quickly identify unusual working hours, overtime, missing reports and employees who may require follow-up.

This task-based approach shaped the navigation, hierarchy and dashboard structure.

Making Data Scannable

A large part of the product consists of workforce data, so the interface was designed for scanning rather than reading.

Progress indicators, status colors and charts help users understand working-hour utilization, overtime and attendance patterns without having to interpret rows of raw numbers.

The goal was not simply to visualize data, but to surface what requires attention.

Designing for Different User Roles

The employee and manager experiences share the same visual language, but prioritize different information.

For employees, personal reporting and transparency are central. For managers, the focus shifts toward team-level visibility, exceptions and decision-making.

This helped create a consistent system without forcing every user into the same workflow.

Turning Workforce Data Into Decisions

The final experience brings attendance, leave and workforce information into one coherent system.

By simplifying the hierarchy and emphasizing exceptions, the product helps employees understand their own status while enabling managers to identify issues faster and make more informed operational decisions.

Built for a Fast-Paced Environment

In a healthcare setting, administrative tasks compete with much more urgent work.

The interface was therefore designed to minimize cognitive load, reduce unnecessary steps and make important information understandable within seconds.
